Although society's prejudices have meant that we've become used to concert halls filled with compositions by men, there is a long and beautiful history of female composers creating incredible music.
In celebration of Women's History Month, we've compiled a playlist of works by some of history's greatest female composers, from the simple beauty of Hildegard von Bingen's 11th century melodies to the contemporary sounds of Joan Tower, Mary Kouyoumdjian, Laura Kaminsky, and others.
