REDLANDS, CAThe Redlands Symphony will open its 2015-16 season – the last with Maestro Jon Robertson as the orchestra’s Music Director and Conductor – on Saturday, October 17, 2015, in Memorial Chapel on the campus of the University of Redlands. Maestro Robertson will conduct DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH’s Cello Concerto No. 1, featuring soloist Doniyor Zuparov. The concert will also include LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN’S Symphony No. 8. Doors open at 7 PM, and the concert begins at 8 PM. Maestro Robertson will provide a pre-concert presentation about the program at 7:15 PM.

“This season our audience will be presented with music that represents some of the classical repertoire’s best, including this opening program that sets the playfulness of Beethoven’s 8###sup/sup### against the more serious and intense cello concerto by Shostakovich,” explains Maestro Robertson. “I’m excited to have cellist Doniyor Zuparov on our stage performing one of the most difficult pieces ever written for the cello,” Robertson said. “Our audience will be thrilled with his artistry.”
