About the Episode
Sean Friar's Emerald Oasis captures Redlands' unique charm. While initially mysterious, the piece takes on an intriguing beauty, mirroring the experience of driving to Redlands. The final third of the piece is a celebratory and energetic return that showcases the excitement and enthusiasm one experiences when being welcomed into our Redlands community.
Our episode concludes with Gustav Mahler's heroic First Symphony. For Mahler, the symphony was a “means of constructing a world with all the technical means at one’s disposal.” His Symphony No. 1 was the beginning of this lifelong mission to create the ultimate sound world.
