Our final guest conductor this season will be Gordon Hunt. Perhaps best-known as the principal oboist of the Philharmonia and London Chamber Orchestras, Maestro Hunt also has an active career as a conductor with orchestras around the world. In his appearance with the Redlands Symphony, he has chosen works by three of classical music’s most beloved composers.
Spend a wonderful evening socializing with friends and browsing dozens of new and gently-used designer purses.
“Elgar wrote the Enigma Variations as a set of portraits of his closest friends. Like him, I am dedicating this performance to those of you within this community who have so greatly enriched my life over the decades. We will also celebrate the Redlands Symphony’s long and valuable friendship with the University of Redlands as we present the winner of the University’s annual Concerto Competition.” - Jon Robertson
Benjamin Wallfisch is well-known as a conductor and composer. In addition to conducting orchestras throughout Europe and the United States, he has scored dozens of films and television shows, earning an Emmy Award nomination in the process. The gorgeous melodies of Vaughan Williams and Tchaikovsky will contrast with the elegant wit of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella in Maestro Wallfisch’s program.
Our first guest conductor this season is Ransom Wilson. Maestro Wilson has an international reputation both as a flutist and a conductor, with countless performances and over a dozen recordings (including two Grammy Award nominations). Ransom has chosen an energetic concert of music from opera and ballet that we hope captures your imagination.
Ransom Wilson will discuss his career and his approach to music, after which he will take questions from the audience.

“I have invited cellist Doniyor Zuparov to open my final season with one of the most difficult pieces ever written for the instrument, and I promise that you will be stunned by his artistry. Juxtaposing Beethoven's playful 8th Symphony against the intensity of Shostakovich's virtuoso showpiece sets the perfect tone to open our season.” - Jon Robertson
On September 1, single tickets for the 2014-15 Season will go on sale.
