Laura Parker, Soprano, grew up in Southern California, and her local credits include performing with LA Opera (Suor Angelica, Akhnaten, Carmen), Long Beach Opera (The Cunning Little Vixen), and Lyric Opera of San Diego (A Waltz Dream). She has also appeared as a guest artist with the San Diego Symphony and Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra. This past fall, Laura was the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana with the LA Daiku Chorus. Outside of California, Laura has performed leading and supporting operatic roles in New York with Dicapo Opera, Liederkranz Opera Theatre, and Beth Morrison Projects, as well as recital programs in London and St. Maarten. Laura is especially enthusiastic about contemporary opera and operatic improvisation. She trained and performed as an improviser with iO West, UCB-NY, and Magnet Theater-NY and has combined improv and opera in performances for Classical Singer National Conventions, Opera America, and Hollywood Ford Amphitheater. Laura is a faculty member of the summer opera training program OperaWorks and teaches at UCLA during the school year. She holds vocal performance degrees from Boston University (BM) and USC (MM) and is a certified Alexander Technique teacher.
