Penny Peng

While relatively new to Redlands, Dr. Penny Peng hasn’t wasted any time becoming involved in her community and the Redlands Symphony. Dr. Peng recently was elected to the symphony’s board of directors. She is an active volunteer at Crosswalk SDA Church and is a regular worker at her children’s school.
About becoming one of this year’s Dancing with the Stars local celebrity dancers, Dr. Peng says, “I am looking forward to having fun, and entertaining my friends and family. And I am especially looking forward to raising money for the Redlands Symphony and bringing home the coveted mirror-ball trophy.”
Dr. Peng and her husband, Duane Abel, have two sons – William (11) and Jacob (9) – and both boys are involved with music. She says “I’m passionate about raising my boys.”
Dr. Peng has been a general dentist for 18 years and currently works part-time and teaches dentistry at Loma Linda School of Dentistry once a month.
Penny has a long list of hobbies including skiing, golfing, traveling, enjoying good food, hanging out with friends, and dancing.
“As a child in Taiwan, besides learning piano, I learned how to dance ballet, modern dance, and traditional folk dance,” Dr. Peng explains, “When my family moved to Argentina when I was 12, I continued to study ballet and modern dance at Escuela Argentina National de Danza. I’m excited to get back on the dancefloor.”
