Grammy Winner joins RSO for "Big Band Holiday"

Grammy-winning vocalist Sara Gazarek brightens the Memorial Chapel this holiday season.

The halls of the Memorial Chapel are soon to be decked and the Redlands Symphony will add swinging tunes to your holiday playlists with the presentation of “Big Band Holiday,” the Symphony’s annual holiday concert. “Experiencing the electric energy of a big band ensemble made up of Redlands Symphony musicians is like nothing else our community will do this holiday season,” says Music Director Ransom Wilson. “Big Band Holiday” takes place on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 7:30PM in the Memorial Chapel on the campus of the University of Redlands.

Joining 17 of the Redlands Symphony’s players will be guest conductor Gregory Robbins and Grammy-winning vocalist Sara Gazarek. Robbins is a conductor in high-demand making appearances with the Redlands Symphony, Norwalk Youth Symphony, Yonkers Philharmonic, Pazarjik Symphony (Bulgaria), and Symphony by the Sea. Gazarek is a multi-faceted vocalist and composer from Seattle, Washington, whose vocal ensemble, säje, won a Grammy for Best Arrangement of Instrumental and Vocals. Additionally, Gazarek’s debut solo album, Vanity¸ was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2019.

From old favorites like “White Christmas” and “Frosty the Snowman,” to new classics like “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and Duke Ellington’s jazz arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, this family-friendly concert is sure to jingle your bells and but you in the holiday spirit in the most Redlands way possible.

Tickets range from $20 to $80 for adults with discounts available for children and students with valid ID.
